August 28, 2008 (RALEIGH, NC) – As the October 11 date draws nearer for Purple Armchair’s 2008 CHAIRity Gala & Fundraiser to benefit Habitat for Humanity of Wake County, co-sponsors have lined up to show their support by donating their services.
The Raleigh Downtowner, the city’s monthly magazine covering the downtown area, and its online sister publication, the Raleigh Chronicle, are serving as the event’s media partner by donating advertising and editorial coverage.
Dave Killian of Killer Creative Group, an award-winning graphic design firm also in downtown Raleigh, is donating his services to produce the event’s ads, posters and other promotional materials.
Margaux’s, a restaurant in North Raleigh known almost as much for its artistic décor and art exhibits as Chef Andrew Pettifer’s fine food, is providing culinary refreshments for the gala.
Humble Pie, an award-winning downtown eatery known for its mastery of the tapas-style menu, is also providing food and wine.
The Downtown Raleigh Alliance is providing in-kind promotional sponsorship by adding the CHAIRity to its website calendar of events (www.GoDowntownRaleigh.com), to the events section of its October-December publication of the “Discover Downtown” map/guide, and by including the event description in the DRA’s October e-newsletter.
Cheri Faux, a professional auctioneer, is donating her expert services for the live auction.
The 2008 CHAIRity, to be held Saturday, October 11, from 7 to 11 p.m. also involves the efforts of nearly 50 local artists who are “recyling” old wooden chairs from Habitat/Wake’s ReStore into original works of art, which will be auctioned off during the gala with proceeds going to Habitat/Wake. The evening will include live music, food, wine, raffles and door prizes. The event is free and open to the public, although potential bidders will have to register at the door.
Purple Armchair, the host for the 2008 CHAIRity gala and fundraiser, is located at 600 N. West Street, one block from Glenwood South. An emerging marketplace in the midst of the downtown area, Purple Armchair is a member of the Downtown Raleigh Alliance, DowntownRaleigh.com, and First Friday Art Walk. Business hours are Wednesday-Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Fridan and Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday noon to 5 p.m. The store is closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
