“Run For Your Life – Run For Your Cause” To Be Held in Charlotte

RHA Howell, Inc. is selected as a beneficiary of the four-mile race/fundraiser.

June 30, 2010 (CHARLOTTE, NC) – “Run For Your Life – Run For Your Cause,” a four-mile race, will be held in Charlotte on Saturday, July 24, and RHA Howell, Inc. has been named as one of the beneficiaries of the fundraising event.

Sponsored by Run For Your Life, a local running shoe business founded in 1989, the “Run For Your Cause” race partners with local non-profit organizations to use the event as a means to raise awareness of their causes and to raise funds to support them. The race is part of the 2010 Grand Prix Series of races presented by ASICS® athletic products.

This year, “Run for Your Cause” has selected three beneficiaries: Lois’ Lodge Maternity Home, Alzheimer’s Association, and RHA Howell, Inc.

RHA Howell is a statewide organization that has been helping people with developmental and behavioral disabilities, and their families, for more than 35 years. RHA Howell operates group homes and the Clear Creek Center in Charlotte.

“We’re delighted that ‘Run For Your Cause’ has selected RHA Howell this year,” said Taylor Thigpen, Outreach Coordinator, RHA Howell, Inc. “By doing so, the organizers are sending the message that even in the most stressful times, caring for people with disabilities is still a top priority.”

Participants in the “Run For Your Cause” four-mile race will have the opportunity to meet representatives from each organization, learn more information about what they do in the Charlotte area, and discover how they can support the organizations beyond this event.

Volunteers from RHA Howell will help with registration, serve as course monitors and at the finish line, and will provide an information table after the run.

The four-mile race will begin at 2422 Park Road. For details on times, categories, and entry fees, go to www.runforyourlife.com and click on “Charlotte Running Events/2010 Running Events. Registration is currently available but will close on Friday, July 10, at 5 a.m.
